Maria Livia Olivetti is Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture at the Department of Architecture of the University of Palermo (DArch) and holds a PhD in Sustainable Urban Design from Roma Tre University.
From 2010 to 2014, she won and coordinated the national research project “Living Urban Scape – Abitare lo spazio urbano” (Living Urban Scape – Inhabiting Urban Space) at Roma Tre University, funded with over €840,000 by the Ministry of University and Research (MIUR).
She is a member of the teaching staff of the Doctorate in Landscape and Environment at Sapienza University of Rome
He has written, among others, the books La foresta civile (Libria, 2023), La città selvatica (with A. Metta, Libria, 2019), which has also been translated into English, Progettare Paesaggi Quotidiani (with A. Metta and A. Lambertini, Gangemi, 2014), Città Pubblica/Paesaggi Comuni. Materiali per il progetto degli spazi aperti dei quartieri ERP (with A. Metta and A. Lambertini, Gangemi, 2013), Il verde come strumento di riqualificazione. Gli aspetti teorici e sperimentali dell'uso del verde in architettura con progetto applicativo su edifici residenziali pubblici, (Aracne, 2011)
He is an elected member of the board of directors of the Italian Scientific Society of Landscape Architecture (IASLA).
He is a member of the provincial commissions for the protection of the natural and scenic beauty of Trapani and Palermo on behalf of the Department of Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity of the Region of Sicily.
He has always combined his research activities with his professional practice in the field of landscape architecture and in 2006 he spent a period of research and work at the studio of Anne Lacaton and Jean Philippe Vassal in Paris. In 2010, he won the “Qualità Italia giovani” award (with C. Garofalo) promoted by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities.
