Titolo della tesi: Bedouin Arabic Varieties in North-Eastern Jordan
The present thesis describes and analyses two Bedouin varieties spoken in north-eastern Jordan (governorate of al-Mafraq). The aim, beyond the analysis and description, is to determine to which linguistic group they belong. These varieties have been neglected in Jordanian dialectology and never been thoroughly investigated. During the fieldwork, conducted between 2020 and 2022, interviews with speakers belonging to different tribes and villages close to the Syro-Jordanian border were recorded. This corpus-based study focuses on the morphological and syntactical features of the dialects. It demonstrates that these varieties belong to the Northern Nomadic ygūlun group. Moreover, comparisons with other Bedouin varieties of the area are also included.
