Research: Build and govern propaganda. Administrative structures and political practices of the Ministry of Press and Propaganda and Min.cul.pop. between the Ethiopian War and the Second World War
The doctoral project deals with the structures, policies, and practices of fascist propaganda in Italy, between the Ethiopian war and the Second world war.
This project analyses the institutions (ministries, directions, departments, different offices) that made the propaganda during the fascist regime, mainly for war policy – but also for cultural policy. Part of this study is dedicated to the reconstruct of Ministry for press and propaganda (well known as Min.cul.pop); furthermore, a specific focus will be dedicated to the technical and political “protagonists of the propaganda”, who created and implemented the manipulative-administrative process.
Moreover, the study aims to investigate the relationship between the Ministry of press and propaganda and the Ministry of National education.
The archival sources that will be analysed specifically concern administrative and political deeds and documentation.
The innovative aspect of the research concerns exactly the reconstructions of the institutions, in the presence of numerous studies on the propaganda message or final product (eg. the newspaper article, the poster, the flyer).
