Thesis title: Gramsci con Bourdieu: dialoghi e prospettive sociologiche

This work examines the points of contact and conditions of possibility for interaction between the theoretical and analytical perspectives of Antonio Gramsci and Pierre Bourdieu. It first focuses on the complementarities between the epistemological tools developed by both authors to address key sociological issues. In particular, it considers the principles underlying the legitimization of hegemonic classifications and their refractions within the hierarchical structures of different social and cultural fields, while also examining the role of common sense mechanisms in relation to positions, dispositions, and interests. The aim is to outline possible paths for epistemological integration, taking the research program of the so-called “original core” of British Cultural Studies as a central reference point. Finally, within this framework, a heuristic development of the affinities between the two authors is proposed, with particular attention to the fields of cultural and intellectual production. The concluding section is in fact deliberately left open for further in-depth research and is devoted to a preliminary exploration of so-called “working class literature” in Italy, presenting it as a distinctive case of subfield construction through a strategy of authorial affirmation.
