Research: Medieval Liturgical furnishings in the Patrimonium Tusciae (11th to the 14th century): The dioceses of Viterbo, Civita Castellana, Tuscania, Nepi and Sutri.
Matteo Bucci (Rome, 1998) graduated with honors with a bachelor's degree in Historical-artistic studies at Sapienza University of Rome (September 2022), with a degree thesis in Medieval Art History titled “Architectural sculpture in the church of San Flaviano in Montefiascone” (supervisor Prof. Anna Maria D’Achille). Enrolled in the master's degree program in Art History at the same university, in March 2025, he graduated with honors with the degree thesis “Architecture and architectural sculpture in the church of San Giorgio in Brancoli” (supervisor Prof. Manuela Gianandrea, co-supervisor Dr. Elisabetta Scirocco), focusing on the study of lucchese romanesque art and the international influences that stylistically characterize its sculpture and architecture, also receiving the “Pietro, Francesco, and Natalia Brancoli Busdraghi 2024” graduation award. During his degree course, he completed an internship at the Capitoline Superintendency for Cultural Heritage, assisting in the organization of the exhibition “Maria Barosso, artista e archeologa nella Roma in trasformazione”, for which he was also a scientific collaborator. He is currently a PhD student with a scholarship (41st cycle) in Medieval Art History at Sapienza University of Rome, with a research project focused on the cataloguing, analysis, and reconstruction of liturgical furniture in the churches of the Tuscia region between the 11th and 14th century.
