Matilde Altobello is a PhD Candidate in Peace Studies at Sapienza University of Rome, within Curriculum 10 – Dynamics, Processes and Actors in International Relations. Her research project, “Multilateral Peacekeeping and Suspended Sovereignty: Institutional Crisis and Bilateral Penetration in the Grey Zones of the International System”, examines the transformation of international missions in prolonged instability contexts such as Kosovo, Lebanon and Mali, marked by contested sovereignty and intense geopolitical competition. The project adopts a comparative approach and a predictive perspective aimed at identifying emerging trends in future forms of intervention and governance, particularly in settings where bilateral actors gain increasing influence while their strategic objectives remain not immediately evident. She holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations and Supranational Institutions (LM-52) from Sapienza University of Rome, graduating with highest honors, following a study path focused on critical approaches to international relations and the evolving global order. She previously earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and International Relations (L-36) from the same institution. She has gained experience in administrative roles and in the non-profit sector, collaborating with various Third Sector organizations and developing strong skills in management, coordination and communication within heterogeneous teams.
