Martina Manfredi Selvaggi is currently a PhD student in Scienze documentarie, linguistiche e letterarie (Documentary, Linguistic and Literary Sciences), with a curriculum in Historical-Literary and Gender Studies.
She graduated cum laude in Modern Literature (2020) from the University of Rome "La Sapienza," with a thesis entitled "The Body in Italian Female Medieval Mystic Literature: An Analysis through the works of Umilta' da Faenza, Caterina da Siena, and Caterina da Bologna." She then earned a Master's degree cum laude in Modern Philology (2022) from the same university, writing a thesis entitled "Theory of Bodily Representation in Literature: Examples and Comparison between the works of Ugo Foscolo and Diodata Saluzzo."
Since 2021, she has actively participated in the activities of "Sguardi sulle differenze" - Laboratorio di studi femministi "Anna Rita Simeone", at the Sapienza University of Rome.
Her research interests focus on Italian literature and gender studies. Her doctoral project aims to identify the models of existence and relationship "exposed" in italian literary texts, with specific attention to the embodied dimension and in a transdisciplinary perspective.
