Mariasole Caira is a PhD candidate in Peace Studies, Curriculum 3 – Peacebuilding, Human Rights and Peoples’ Rights, with a research project entitled “The Right to Peace as a Legal Paradigm for the Protection of “Climate Refugees”: Towards a Multilevel Human Rights-Based Governance”. She graduated with honours in Law from the Pontifical Lateran University, with a thesis on environmental migration, which was awarded the “Cossa Prize”, promoted by the Association for Legal Studies on Immigration (ASGI). She later completed a Postgraduate Master’s Degree in International Protection of Human Rights at Sapienza University of Rome. She gained professional experience as a Legal Trainee at the Italian Refugee Council (CIR) and as a Research Intern at the Institute of International Legal Studies of the National Research Council (CNR). Her professional experience includes an international placement at the International Office of the Associazione Comunità Papa Giovanni XXIII (APG23), a UN-accredited NGO with consultative status at the Human Rights Council in Geneva.
