Phd in DOCUMENTATION STUDIES, LINGUISTICS AND LITERATURE

Marco Maurizi (1994) is a Ph.D. student in “Documentation Studies, Linguistics and Literature” (XXXVI Cycle - Curriculum A: “Theory of languages and linguistic education”) at “La Sapienza” - University of Rome. Previously, he obtained his BA and MA in Philosophy at the same University, with a BA thesis (academic year: 2015-2016) on «Gramsci e i problemi dell’unificazione linguistica: dagli scritti giovanili ai Quaderni del Carcere» (Supervisor: S. Gensini) and a MA thesis (academic year: 2018-2019) on «Giovanni Nencioni, Giacomo Devoto e l’istituzionalismo linguistico (1946 - 1973)» (Supervisor: S. Gensini; Co-supervisor: F. Giuliani).

His research interests mainly focus on the history of Italian linguistic thought in the XIX century. In his research project for a Ph.D. thesis, he investigates the role, the work, and the ideas of the Italian linguist Giacomo Devoto, in order to reconstruct his profile as witness and interpreter of the European linguistic traditions of the last century.

Prizes and awards:
Winner (first place ex aequo) of the “Tullio De Mauro scholarship” (2020 edition) - Best MA thesis on Philosophy of Language, Theoretical Linguistics, Educational Linguistics, or Modern Language Education.
