Marco Famele graduated in Medicinal Chemistry and Technologies from the University of Calabria (UNICAL) in 2010, completing his experimental thesis in pharmaceutical chemistry entitled ‘Synthesis and biological evaluation of molecules with APE-1 inhibitory activity’. In 2010, he obtained his licence to practise as a Pharmacist and Chemist. In 2012, he was awarded a scholarship at the National Centre for Chemical Substances, Cosmetics and Consumers’ Health Protection (CNSC) of the Italian National Institute of Health (ISS) for study and research activities within the research project: ‘Application of innovative techniques (OMICS) and classical analytical techniques for detection of biomarkers and residues of illicit treatments of bovines with growth-promoting agents’. Since 2013, he has been a researcher at the CNSC of the ISS, where he carries out institutional and research activities in the field of the development and validation of analytical methods for quantifying chemicals in mixtures, products and articles falling under the European Regulations REACH, CLP, Biocides and Cosmetics, Toy Safety and Tobacco Products Directives, as well as quantifying biomarkers of chemical exposure in biological samples. In 2025, he was admitted to the PhD programme in Chemical Sciences at the University of Rome “Sapienza”.
