My project has as its leitmotiv the relationship between ideology, the construction from above of the tradition and, indeed, the musical traditions thus constructed. The fascist regime set up one politic of construction of the Italic identity using an "invented" tradition and also
of musical folklore, through the activity of the National Opera Dopolavoro. It is meant therefore
make an assessment of the folk groups that arose in Sicily during the activity of the OND, with
attention to their repertoire and spectacular activity. The link between folk-revival and political-cultural movement is very well know during the post-war period, with the people becoming expression aware of an "other" culture. In this change of perspective is inscribed the activity of the intellectual, singer and researcher Giuseppe Ganduscio, precursor of folk-revival in Sicily.
