Luigi Usai is a PhD student in Peace Studies at Sapienza University in Rome, as well as “Cultore della materia” on international law at the University of Cagliari. He graduated cum laude in Law, with a thesis focusing on the role of social media in the commission of international crimes. Entitled “Algorithmic policy and the liability of social media platforms for international crimes”, his research focuses on the liability of digital platforms and examines the impact of algorithmic policies on humanitarian crises. He has also gained experience as a trainee lawyer and through a diplomatic internship at the Italian Embassy in Bratislava and by attending a summer school on the European human rights protection system at Viadrina University in Germany.
