Lucia Mori is Associate Professor of Ancient Near Eastern History, with full professorship qualification, at the Department of Ancient Studies at Sapienza University of Rome and a member of the PhD program in Philology and History of the Ancient World at the same institution. She is currently the Principal Investigator of a PNRR Prin project on the conservation of the historical memory of the Arslantepe area, a UNESCO site in southeastern Turkey, where, since 2012, she has directed research on the Hittite and post-Hittite periods. She also directs a major university project on the role of pastoral societies in urbanization processes in the ancient Near East, linked to research conducted in recent years on landscape reconstruction and the relationship between water management and political power in arid environments in ancient Western Asia. On the role of women in ancient societies, she organized the conference "Donne d'Oriente. 1st day of studies on women in the Near Eastern world and the ancient Mediterranean" at Sapienza University, in collaboration with Maria Giovanna Biga. The proceedings were published in the journal Henoch. She also organized two seminars for the doctoral program in History and Philology of the Ancient World, dedicated to "Female Correspondences in the Ancient World," and is a member of the scientific committee of the seventh conference on "Gender Methodology and the Ancient Near East" (GeMANE 7).
