Research: Assessing crop failure risk in Italian agriculture: Targeting vulnerable areas for artificial lake development as a drought mitigation strategy

EDUCATION

Ph.D. Candidate in Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering
Sapienza University of Rome, September 2022 – Present
Conducting advanced research on drought phenomena in Italy, focusing on identifying the most vulnerable regions in terms of agricultural, energy, and economic risks. The project integrates historical data analysis, climate modeling, and socio-economic impact assessments to understand current drought trends and predict future scenarios under the influence of climate change.

Main activities:

• Assessment of drought-prone areas using hydrological and climatic indicators.
• Analysis of drought implications on critical sectors, including agriculture, energy, and economy.
• Development of predictive models to forecast drought evolution in response to climate change.
• The ultimate goal is to provide actionable insights to support sustainable water management and resilience strategies.
