Research: Development of models for the management, efficiency and sustainability of large-scale wastewater treatment plants
My research focuses on the development of models for the management, efficiency and sustainability of large wastewater treatment plants. The study focuses on the calculation of impacts through the Life Cycle Assessment methodology in terms of Global Warming Potential, Acidification and Eutrophication. The impacts refer both to the management phase, with alternative scenarios using different plant technologies, and to the construction phase of the plant itself, considering possible more sustainable materials. Both the water line and the sludge line are analysed in the study, with reference also to transport and disposal methods.
