Individual and Subjectivation in Marx, between Genus and Community
This research aims at rereading Marx's work to point out the more historical-political aspects of his thought in light of the category of “individual subjectivity”, and the relationship of the latter with the community. For doing that, I will focus on Marx's anthropology and his reflections on the practices of subjectivation in place in the socio-economics context; this, also beyond the approach of the critique of political economy, and the theoretical nature of both his thought and the traditional debate generated, in the 20th century, by Marxian anthropology. By analyzing the status and the evolution of the notions of Individuum, Gattungswesen, Gemeinwesen, and Klasse along Marx’s theoretical path, I will therefore try to establish: 1) which forms of human subjectivity, relationship, and association are thought of in Marx’s works; 2) what kinds of freedom and emancipation are possible for him; 3) finally, through a reconstruction of his considerations of the juridical phenomenon, I will try to determine which is the relationship that links the individual subject both with its community, and the State.
Thereby, I shall clarify whether it is possible, by focusing on individuality, to avoid reading Marx in light of polarizing interpretations of the different stages of his thought.
