Krystyna Warchał è professore associato nel dipartimento di Linguistica dell'Università Silesia, a Katowice. Lavora sull'analisi dei generi, la sociolinguistica e la discourse analysis. In particolare, si è concentrata sulle modalità di comunicazione accademica. I suoi interessi di ricerca comprendono anche gli studi contrastivi polacco-inglese, l'inglese come lingua internazionale della scienza e la modalità epistemica. Si interessa anche di translation studies, in particolare di traduzione accademica. Di recente ha partecipato a progetti relativi ai cambiamenti nelle pratiche del discorso accademico in Polonia e del multilinguismo nella comunicazione accademica, specialmente nel contesto della globalizzazione, dell'internazionalizzazione della scienza e dell'educazione superiore, e di science policy.
