Isnawati Hidayah is pursuing PhD in Economics under join supervision at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy and LUMC, Leiden University. Isnawati graduated from Master of International Development Studies program majoring Economics Development from Wageningen University and Research, the Netherlands, in 2019. Isnawati is founder and associated as a economic researcher at ROTASI Institute (Institute for Rural Development and Sustainability) which then has been awarded as the best Research Institute at “the Indonesia’s SDGs Action Awards 2022" held by BAPPENAS Indonesia (Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas Republic of Indonesia). In 2020, she also had experiences as research assistant at INDEF (Institute for Development Economic and Finance), Jakarta.
Isnawati was active in community empowerment projects in coastal areas in 2016 with PUPUK (Association for Small Business Improvement) Surabaya and PT Saka Energi Indonesia (part of Indonesia’s largest natural gas transportation and distribution company). In 2021, she actively involved on initiating circular economy project to support food security in rural area (Indonesia).
Isnawati had also been involved in the Excellence in Research program in Economics of Development Department, Wageningen University. In addition, Isnawati had also been involved as a research assistant during her internship at Wageningen Economics Research in Den Haag in a project to map food consumption and expenditure in Uganda.

For her research, she interests on economic development, food security, food system, sustainability and rural development issues.
