Irene Quarantini (Macerata, 1995) obtained her Bachelor's degree (2017) from La Sapienza University of Rome under the supervision of prof. Claudio Zambianchi and her Master's degree in History of Art with honors (2019) at Ca'Foscari University of Venice, with a dissertation entitled "The 10th Quadrennial of Rome and the international exhibition system in the age of Glocal" (Supervisor: Prof. Nico Stringa; Co-supervisor: Prof. Stefania Portinari), examining the phenomenon of mutation of large scale international exhibitions that occurred during the 1970s and the connections with the international biennial system, specifically in the context of the 7th Paris Biennial , the 13th Biennial of Sao Paulo in Brazil and the 10th Biennial of Tokyo.
From 2017 to 2019 she has been an Art Docent at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection; over the years she has combined academic training with diverse collaborations with public and private institutions such as Palazzo delle Esposizioni, exibart, Bibliotheca Hertziana - Max Planck Institute for the History of Art and Alessandra Bonomo Gallery.
In 2023 she obtained a diploma in Historical Artistic Heritage from Scuola di Specializzazione at La Sapienza University, with a thesis on the methodological revision of European ethnographic museums, including the Museo delle Civiltà in Rome (Supervisor: Prof. Carla Subrizi).
Her academic research focuses on the phenomenon of decolonization of ethnographic museums, on the new methodological and museum approaches initiated with the reorganization of the Museum of Civilizations of Rome and on the relationships between contemporary art and anthropology.
