Ilaria Andolfi is Associate Professor in Greek Language and Literature at Sapienza University of Rome.

After training at Sapienza until her PhD (2016), she won numerous calls for postdoctoral positions: first at the Italian Institute for Historical Studies (2016/17), then at the Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung at the University of Heidelberg (2018/19) and the Irish Research Council at Trinity College Dublin (offer declined) and finally at the British Academy as Newton Fellow at King's College London (2020/21). In 2021, she won the "Rita Levi Montalcini" brain-reentry program, funded by the MUR, and joined Sapienza University as a Type B researcher, leading a project on the poetry of Empedocles of Agrigento.

His research has been mainly focused on literary production from the Archaic and Classical periods, with numerous contributions on Greek mythography, especially on Hecataeus of Miletus and Acusilaus of Argos, of which he has published an edition with commentary, on the Presocratics (Empedocles, on whom a monograph is being prepared, Parmenides, the Sophists) and on Orphism. At the moment, his interests are directed towards the study of epic and lyrical poetry, in its literary and dialectological aspects, and towards the definition of literary genres.
