Thesis title: Storie di pubblici. Una ricerca sull’audience cine-televisiva del Friuli-Venezia Giulia tra gli anni Cinquanta e Ottanta
This dissertation analyses the transformations in film and television consumption practices in Friuli-Venezia Giulia between the 1950s and the 1980s. By defining a specific methodology primarily based on a qualitative approach and, in particular, on the direct collection of audience testimonies, the research investigates the evolution of media consumption, the sedimentation of textual memories, and the role of consumption practices within the life trajectories of audiences.
The main findings demonstrate how media experiences have contributed to the construction and reinforcement of a shared collective culture through ritualized practices of consumption. This culture intertwines with the personal lives of viewers and with the ways in which different forms of audiovisual texts persist in the audiences’ memory.
The contribution of this study lies in offering an original interpretative model that brings together different disciplinary perspectives for the analysis of cinema and television, thereby opening new avenues for audience research.
