Research:
Giulia Gallo is a Ph.D. student in Russian Culture and Linguistics at the University of Rome Sapienza.
In 2018 she finished cum laude her BA at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" with a thesis about Zoščenko's first skaz tales and their translation into Italian.
In 2021 she finished cum laude her MA at the same university, with a thesis about Vladimir Sorokin's postsoviet works and his new conception of literaturocentrizm.
In 2019 she won a Student Mobility scholarship and spent a semester at the Saint-Petersburg State University.
From 2020 to 2022 she has collaborated with the web project "Russia in Translation". In this regard, she wrote reviews of upcoming books related to Russian literature and articles connected to Russian culture.
In 2021 she collaborated on the translation of the script (functional for the editing of the subtitles, finalised by a third party) of the film Besy (The Demons, 2014, directed by V. Chotinenko), screened as part of the cultural events "Dostoevsky-200".
In January 2022, she was part of the organising committee for the conference "Intersections/Пересечения", organised by the University of Turin.
Since 2023 she has been a member of the Young Slavists Collective, a newly formed group of young scholars committed to promoting the subject and creating academic links between doctoral students and recent graduates, within which she is involved in organising postgraduate conferences.
As part of her Ph.D. in Documentation Studies, Linguistics and Literature, her research focuses on the role played by paratextuality in Russian web literature (seteratura).
In 2022, she spent two months as a Visiting Ph.D. Student at the University of Tartu, supervised in research developments by Prof. Roman Lejbov, Professor of Russian Literature at the same university and expert in Russian digital literature.
