NATIONAL PHD IN HERITAGE SCIENCE

Research: Safeguarding built heritage in historic villages threatened by climate change.

Giulia Cherchi (Cagliari, 1998) is an architect and researcher graduated in Architecture from the University of Cagliari in 2022 with a dissertation about the reuse of WW2 fortified lines and an in-depth analysis of the Plan Barron in Lisbon, in collaboration with Universidade Lusófona (Lisbon). From after her graduation, she’s been engaged in research activities with the Department of Architecture, Civil and Environment Engineering in the University of Cagliari, winning a research grant about urban regeneration in small historic villages in Sardinia. From November 2022 she’s a National PhD candidate at La Sapienza University (Rome), where she’s studying how to prevent historic villages and their cultural heritage from hazards due to climate change. At the same time, she continues her collaboration with the University of Cagliari with teaching support activities and research projects, being also coordinator of the Young Group of the Istituto dei Castelli ONLUS association about fortified architecture and monuments.
