Research: Designing Peace Through Urban Sustainability: An Integrated Analysis of UBEM, LCA, and Sustainable Urban Design for More Equitable and Resilient Settlements
PhD student in Peace Studies, with a specialization in Architectures and Landscapes of Peace, conducting research on energy modeling and life cycle assessment of buildings. My research project is titled "Designing Peace through Urban Sustainability: an Integrated Analysis of UBEM, LCA, and Sustainable Urban Design for More Equitable and Resilient Settlements." In 2023, I obtained a single-cycle Master’s Degree in Building Engineering–Architecture (LM-4 c.u.) from the University of Brescia, with a thesis titled "The Decarbonization Pathway and Energy Modeling of Buildings: from the State of the Art on Methods and Analytical Tools to the Application on a Case Study." After two professional experiences—one as a designer in an engineering firm with a strong focus on sustainable design, and another as a project manager in a construction company—I decided to pursue this advanced research path to further explore the topics I had already investigated in my Master’s thesis. Both my academic and professional experiences have allowed me to develop an interdisciplinary approach to sustainable design, aimed at addressing the challenges posed by increasing energy demands, which contribute to social inequalities and climate crises at the root of migration and humanitarian emergencies.
