Research: Cinematic Portrayal of Palestinian Writers: A Post-Colonial Perspective

PhD candidate in Peace Studies, in the curriculum "Literatures, arts, philosophies and imaginaries of peace". In 2019, she obtained a Bachelor's degree in Comparative Languages and Cultures at the University L'Orientale of Naples (Arabic and French, L-11) and, in 2023, a Master's degree in Languages and Civilizations of Asia and Mediterranean Africa (Arabic LM-36) at the Ca' Foscari University of Venice. She developed a master's thesis on the potential of cinematographic adaptation in the Egyptian context and, specifically, on the prospects of using such an expressive form, as a tool to alter the messages and meanings underlying the literary work. Her doctoral project focuses on the cinematographic representation of emblematic figures of Palestinian literature, with particular attention to biographical documentaries. The aim is to explore how audiovisual language can become a tool to celebrate the literary legacy and the values of resistance, contributing to the construction of a shared cultural identity. The work investigates the relationship between cinematic and literary authorship, reflecting on the potential role of cinema as a tool in the service of the re-narration of Palestinian history and memory.
