Research: Contemporary Art and Anti-Apartheid Movements in South Africa and Europe (1976–2000)

Giacomo Rinalduzzi (Rome, 1999) earned his Bachelor’s degree in Art History at Sapienza University of Rome in 2022, with a thesis entitled "Alfred Gell, l’agency e la guerra fredda culturale" (supervisor: Prof. Elisa Coletta). In 2025, he graduated with honors in the Master’s program in Art History at the same university, with a thesis titled "Ricerche artistiche in Italia e prospettive teoriche destituenti: pratiche militanti nell’epoca del neoliberismo" (supervisor: Prof. Francesca Gallo; co-supervisor: Prof. Raffaella Perna).
In 2024, he held a tutoring position at the Museo Laboratorio di Arte Contemporanea (MLAC), where he collaborated on exhibition setups, the cataloguing of the museum’s archival collection, and curated a documentary screening series.
Alongside his studies, since 2021 he has worked as an assistant for galleries, institutions, and exhibitions of contemporary art, and has published articles and translations in journals and online platforms.
Since 2025, he has been a tutor at MLAC, where he contributes to the coordination and organization of the museum’s activities. He is currently a PhD fellow (XLI cycle) in Art History at Sapienza University of Rome, conducting research on the relationships between contemporary art and anti-apartheid movements across South Africa and Europe.
