Research: The Context-Individual Dialectic at the Ballot Box: A Sequential Mixed-Methods Design for Studying the Generative Mechanisms of Youth Electoral Abstention
After my Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science at the University of Catania, I obtained a Master’s Degree in Social Research at the Department of Communication and Social Research at Sapienza University.
In the same Department, I am carrying out my PhD in Social Research Methodology. The research project I am conducting for my dissertation is aimed at developing a mixed-method methodological proposal for the study of youth electoral abstention. An empirical application of this is currently underway in the Roman area, which involves the following phases: i) pilot study; ii) qualitative pre-testing; iii) web survey; iv) deviant case analysis.
The study of this phenomenon is articulated within the broader socio-historical context of the post-digital society, paying attention to the effects of online environments and platforms on democratic discourse, which is increasingly characterised by its performative dimension, hate speech, and polarisation.
