Francesco Ursini is Associate Professor of Latin Language and Literature and President of the Didactic Area of Classics in the Department of Classics at Sapienza University of Rome. He is also President of the “Rome Sapienza” Section of the Italian Classical Association (Associazione Italiana di Cultura Classica – Delegazione di Roma Sapienza). His work focuses mainly on Ovid (Metamorphoses, Fasti and Tristia), pseudo-epigraphic poetry (Consolatio ad Liviam) and classical reception in Italian literature (Dante and Carducci) and in contemporary Western culture. In addition to numerous articles and volumes, he is the author of the high school Latin literature textbook “Tua vivit imago” (Treccani Giunti T.V.P., 2022) and, together with Andrea Cucchiarelli, of the academic handbook “Studiare latino all'università” (Carocci, 2024). His latest monographs are: “Una poetica della dissimulazione. Verità e finzione nelle Metamorfosi e nelle altre opere ovidiane” (Fabrizio Serra, 2021); and “Publii Ovidii Nasonis Fastorum liber III”, edited by F. Ursini (Felice Le Monnier, 2024).
