Titolo della tesi: Electrochemical and Optical Biosensors Development and their application for diagnostic, ecotoxicological and food issues

Biosensors are analytical devices used in a wide range of applications: clinical, ecotoxicological, food safety and drug discovery. One of the key step in biosensors development, is the biotransducer immobilization on the sensor surface. In fact, due to the heterogeneous nature of biotransducer-analyte interaction, to optimize the analytical performance of the biodevices is particularly important to achieve a correct orientation of the biotransducers facilitating the biorecognition step. To this aim, in this work, different site-direct routes were investigated including the use of artificial linkers, supramolecular chemistry, ion-exchanger matrixes, boronic linkers and proteins specific for carbohydrate moieties. This thesis aims to explore the several aspects influencing antibodies and enzymes orientation on sensor surfaces evaluating their effectiveness with respect to the random classical routes.
