Francesca Bufano (Rome, 1998) earned a bachelor’s degree in Historical-Artistic Studies from the University of Rome "La Sapienza" in 2020, with a thesis in Medieval Art History titled "Santa Maria di Pierno: an example of Norman influence on Southern Italian art," under the supervision of Professor Anna Maria D'Achille. In 2022, she earned a master’s degree with honors in Art History from the same university, discussing a thesis in Medieval Art History titled "The rupestrian church of Santa Margherita in Melfi: a pictorial cycle between Byzantine influences and the art of the Federician period" (supervisor: Professor Anna Maria D'Achille; co-supervisor: Professor Roberta Cerone). During her academic training, she carried out internships at Daniela Comani's "Planet Earth. 21st Century" exhibition at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, at the Central Institute for Cataloguing and Documentation, and at the Quirinale Palace. She is currently enrolled at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in the 41st cycle of the Doctorate in Art History with a project titled "Painting in the churches of Basilicata from the 11th to the 14th century: a mix of cultures between Europe and the Mediterranean", and in the School of Specialization in Historic-Artistic Heritage.
