Research: Giorgio Vasari and the Florentine Nation in Rome.

Federico Giglio (Rome, 1996) obtained his BA in Art History with honors at La Sapienza University of Rome in 2018, as a student of the Excellence Program. After being a Visiting Student at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa (2018) and after attending seminars at the Superior School of Advanced Studies (SSAS) in Rome, he earned his MA with honors in January 2021 at La Sapienza, being again awarded among the excellent students of the department of Art and History. His master's dissertation project on Giorgio Vasari and the Confraternity of San Giovanni Decollato in Rome (supervisors Marco Ruffini, Guido Rebecchini), essentially based on archival research, aimed at clarifying some political issues about the confraternal artistic patronage. After graduating he won a short-term pre-doctoral Fellowship at The Medici Archive Project in Florence and a six-month postgraduate Scholarship at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. He’s currently a PhD student at La Sapienza University of Rome: his research project will explore the relations between Vasari as a painter, historiographer and diplomat, and the Florentine Nation in Rome, an organic institution consisting of individuals mutually linked by the same political, artistic and economic interests.
