Fabrizio Silvestri is Full Professor at the DIAG department of Sapienza, Università di Roma. His main research interests are in the area of Natural Language Processing with a particular focus on managing and maintaining integrity on social media, such as fake news. Fabrizio Silvestri is also expert in the area of Web Search and Information Retrieval. He has taken part to the organizing committee of several scientific conferences in the area of Web Search and NLP, and he has also been part of the editorial board of several scientific journals on IR and Knowledge Management. Prior to Sapienza, Fabrizio Silvestri has been a Research Scientist at Facebook AI in London, where he managed a team of Scientists and Engineers working on fighting integrity problems on Social Media, such as Misinformation, and Abusive Accounts. Prior to Facebook, Fabrizio Silvestri has worked as Principal Research Scientist at Yahoo Research in Barcelona and London where he has conducted research in the area of Machine Learning for Advertising, and in particular the advertising system of Yahoo. Prior to Yahoo, Fabrizio Silvestri was a Researcher at the ISTI institute of the Italian National Research Council in Pisa, where he worked on algorithms for Web Search and Information Retrieval. Fabrizio Silvestri has a Ph.D. in Computer Science (2003) and a M.Sc. in Computer Science (2000) magna cum laude.
