Research: AMERICAN PROGRESSIVISM AND ITALIAN RISORGIMENTO: HENRY ADAMS AND HERBERT CROLY

The project focus on the relationship between Italian Risorgimento and American Progreisssivism, because it is central to understand the different ways in which democracy in the two States develops. Many changes in the histories of the two countries could be undestood by re-working the Italian Risorgimento among some American intellectuals-almost during the progressivism period, for example from Henry Adams to Herbert Croly.
The research hopes to reconstruct a debate that from Henry Adams go to progessivism politics , stressing the image of Italian RIsorgimento in the debate that these intellectuals move , in their book or in the lessons.
