Claudio Conti (Ph.D. 2002, ERC StGrant 2008) is Associate Professor at the Department of Physics of the University Sapienza of Rome, where he founded the Nonlinear Photonics Laboratory. Formerly, Senior Researcher at the Institute for Complex Systems (ISC-CNR) in Rome (IT); New Talent Grant from the Research Center Enrico Fermi; Humboldt fellowship for Experience Researchers at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light (2011-2013); Principal Investigator of the Starting Independent Research Grant from the European Research Council (ERC), with the project Light and Complexity (funded by 1085keuros); Principal Investigator of the ERC Proof of Concept Grant Vanguard (2016, 150keuros) and Principal Investigator of the grant from the Templeton Foundation Generalized Uncertainty Principle and the Photon (2015-2017, 188keuros). Director of the Institute of Complex Systems of the National Research Council (ISC-CNR) from July 2014 to June 2018. Italian habilitation as a full professor in theoretical (02/B2, 2016) and experimental condensed matter physics (02/B1, 2012 and 2016). Teaching: Courses in Photonics and Physics at the Faculties of Physics, Engineering and Medicine of University Sapienza (100 students per year) since 2011. Research interests: Experiments, theory, massively parallel computation, and applications of machine learning, in nonlinear physics, optics, photonics, and quantum gravity. C.C. authored more than 180 articles (including 32 Physical Review Letters, 1 Nature, 1 Science, 2 Nature Physics, 4 Nature Communications, and 4 Nature Photonics), and 10 book chapters; contributed to more than 130 international conferences (40 invited talks). CC has more than 7500 citations in Google Scholar (Scopus h-index 37, Google h-index 42, Impact Factor > 900).
