Research: Middle Byzantine Architecture in Corinth between the late 11th and 12th centuries

Chiara Basili was born in Rome in 1999 and graduated in 2017. In 2021, she graduated with honors from the University of Rome "La Sapienza" with a bachelor's degree in Historical-Artistic Studies, discussing a thesis in Byzantine Art History entitled "The Second Coming in Byzantine Art: the oldest icons of the Judgment at Mount Sinai and their iconographic model" (supervisor: Prof. Antonio Iacobini). In 2023, at the same university, she received her master's degree in Art History with honors with a thesis in Byzantine Art History entitled: "Medieval Byzantine Architecture of Athens and Central Greece between the late 10th and 11th centuries" (supervisor: Prof. Alessandro Taddei; co-supervisor: Prof. Livia Bevilacqua). During her university training, she carried out formative internships at the Quirinal Palace (October 2019-March 2020), dealing with the activity of welcoming and guiding visiting groups, and at the Corsini Gallery in Rome (March-July 2022), carrying out the activity of bibliographic research, digitization and cataloguing of the works preserved there. Between May and July 2023, she carried out an extracurricular internship at the Bibliotheca Hertziana in Rome. She is currently enrolled in the XXXIX cycle of the doctoral program in Art History with a project entitled: "Middle Byzantine Architecture in Corinth between the late 11th and 12th centuries".
