Research: Sustainability. The cultural dimension of time
The project is focused on the relationship between time and sustainability. It is investigated, as a research question, what the coherent cultural organization of time is consistent with the paradigm of sustainability. It is assumed, as a research hypothesis, that the current cultural dimension of time - in its dominant meanings - is not functional to the requirements of sustainability.
After analyzing the modern and contemporary sociological literature on the relationship between postmodern society and its organization of time, and after a thorough examination of the current literature on temporal sustainability, it is scheduled a documentary analysis of national and European discussions on sustainable development. This allows to verify whether, in the official narrative concerning culture for.sustainability, a connection has been made with the time variable, recognizing it as one of the key elements to be revised to change the global interaction with natural, economic and social resources.
