Research: Development and application of network-based methods for the analysis and integration of molecular data in precision oncology

Caterina Alfano started her journey at Sapienza with a Bachelor degree in Computer Science, which she finished cum laude in July 2019. In those years she got interested in bioinformatics and decided to enroll to the Master's Degree in Data Science; during the summer of 2021 she graduated cum laude presenting a thesis titled: "A network-based approach to investigate drug therapy-related side effects: a case study about hormonal contraceptives", the final result of a research project carried out with the guidance of Prof. Manuela Petti during the previous months. That same years she got selected to partecipate to the "Cornell, Maryland, Max Planck Pre-doctoral School" held at the beginning of August. Since November 2021, she is a Phd student in Network Oncology and Precision Medicine (prof.ssa Petti and prof. Farina). Her research work focuses on network medicine, primarily on drug repurposing and on studying complex diseases through omics data analysis.
