Research:
Carlotta Ferrando is a second-year Ph.D. student in English Literature, Language and Translation at Sapienza University of Rome, in cotutelle with the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Italian literature, in 2021 she graduated with honors in Comparative Literatures from the University of Turin, writing a dissertation on contemporary American Literature titled ‘Family Dynamics in Blank Coming-of-Age Novels: "Less Than Zero" (1985), "The Lost Language of Cranes" (1986) and "Generation X" (1991)’. Nowadays, her main research interests belong to the field of American Studies: her current Ph.D. dissertation––focused on the ‘Catastrofemales’ of the New Millennium featuring in 21st-century American fiction––deals with contemporary American culture, media, and novels as well as gender issues, whilst drawing on the fields of feminist literary criticism and feminist posthuman discourse. She has also been working as an editor and translator of the American collection "Winning Hearts & Minds: War Poems by Vietnam Veterans" (1972). She is a member of AISNA, the Italian Association of North American Studies, and AISNA Graduates.
