Research: "Cartography at Power": the Cartographic Rooms of the Palazzo Aeronautica in Rome
She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in "Cultural Heritage" at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" and later, at the same university, a Master’s Degree in "Scienze della Storia e del documento", curriculum "Modern European History". Her Master's thesis was performed with the co-direction of the "Université Paris Cité" and it was about «The United States of Europe: History of a geographical concept».
She is co-author of the book «Cartografia, arte e potere tra Riforma e Controriforma. Il Palazzo Farnese a Caprarola» (2020, Franco Cosimo Panini).
Her research thesis, entitled "Cartography of Power": the Rooms of Maps of Palazzo Aeronautica in Rome, focuses on the study and semiotic analysis of the cartographic cycle in some rooms of the Palazzo Aeronautica in Rome, designed and built in 1931.
Her research interests mainly concern historical cartography and its involvement and relations with power and the artistic world.
She won a tutoring assignment aimed at supporting activities in the Museo della Geografia at the Museum Center Sapienza in the period from 16/10/2023 to 31/01/2024, where she still collaborates carrying out laboratory activities.
She participated in the third edition of the Summer school 2024 - The Cultural Heritage and Memory of Totalitarianism organized by the Department of Letters and Modern Cultures of Sapienza with a lesson in English entitled "Cartography and Power: the cartographic rooms of the Palazzo Aeronautica in Rome" held at the headquarters of the Archivio storico del Palazzo dell'Aeronautica di Roma.
During the academic year 2023-2024 she held seminars within the courses of study in Historical Geography, General Geography and Didactics of Geography at the University La Sapienza of Rome.
She has participated in conferences and seminars, including the "Geography and Heritage theories, speeches, issues", for the 5th edition of Days of interdisciplinary studies on "Geography and...", organized by the Society of Geographical Studies, with a contribution in collaboration entitled: "About an Empire map in a country of the Abruzzo Apennines. The case of Aielli Station between rediscovery and valorization of an architectural and cartographic heritage" and a contribution about George Psalmanazar and a map of Formosa in the seminar "Maps of darkness, maps of dreams. Conversations on the secrets of ancient and modern maps" in the framework of the International Night of Museums, both in 2024 and a speech entitled "Cartography as art of power: the Cosmography Room at Caprarola" during the Annual Conference of the Italian Cartography Association "From portolanus to digital mapping. New heuristic routes for territorial governance" in 2023.
In 2024 she won a senior scholarship for research activities entitled "Semantic geographical analysis and historical-political contextualization of cartographic representations".
She obtained the Cambridge English Certificate: C2 Proficiency (CEFR) and the French DELF Certificate Level B2.
