Research: Small-scale Farmers engaging with Innovation in rural Albania: a Configurational and Evaluative Analysis on Climate Adaptation Pathways
Bianca Bonaccorsi holds a Master’s Degree in International Cooperation and Development from Sapienza University of Rome, graduating with highest honours, where she is currently a PhD Candidate in Methodology of Social Sciences at the Department of Communication and Social Research (CoRIS).
Her doctoral research, which awarded the Sapienza 2025 Grant for Starting Research, is entitled “Small-scale Farmers engaging with Innovation in rural Albania: Adoption Pathways through Configurational Analysis and Learning-Oriented Evaluation”. It focuses on farmers’ perspectives within innovation processes, framed by a pluralistic and democratic evaluative approach.
Her thesis integrates Qualitative Comparative Analysis into an evaluative study through a mixed-methods design. Her specialisation in qualitative and participatory methods, combined with a strong grounding in cross-cultural research, positions her as a contributor to social research in international and development contexts.
Drawing on the legacy of Albert Hirschman and Judith Tendler, her work embraces a possibilist framework, privileging what works in complex situations over a primary focus on failures.
