Expertise in laboratory medicine and advanced laboratory diagnostics.

The direction of the UOC of clinical pathology of the Policlinico Umberto I and of the regional laboratory for neonatal screening of Lazio involves the management of structures that operate 7/7 in a 24-hour regime, to which approximately 120 personnel and the corresponding economic resources are assigned to guarantee the analytical flow.

The experience gained in the board of directors of Sapienza has led to a direct involvement in the planning and evaluation of the effectiveness of the strategic actions of the largest European university.

Relational skills and competences
The presidency of the Degree Courses reported in a synthetic way involves not only the six-monthly planning of the training activities but the need to evaluate the needs of the students and teachers of the course, constantly adapting the quality of the training to the innovation that derives from the innovation of the tools teaching and training in general.

In the research field, the articulation of care activities in different contexts of laboratory medicine involves the coordination of university research groups, with specific interests in the field of advanced diagnostics for genetic-metabolic diseases, as well as in the identification of new biomarkers that can be used for the diagnosis and follow-up of patients with chronic diseases such as cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases.

Organizational skills
Management of the clinical pathology UOC to which the three main analysis laboratories of the Policlinico Umberto I hospital report activities spread over 24 hours / 7 days a week, coordinating a work group of about 120 units including graduate personnel, technical area, administrative area, as well as management of the relative budget assigned to the UOC.

Management of the single regional laboratory for newborn screening for the Lazio and the Molise region, along with the coordination of the working group of about 30 personnel and coordination with all the regional birth centers and regional clinical centers that take care of newborns.

Director of the blood sampling center - Policlinico Umberto I hospital, with the coordination of about 10 units of graduate, nursing and auxiliary personnel.

Director of the Master in Wound Care from 2008 to 2016.

Patents
Co-inventor of the Italian, European, US patent: KGF/FGF7 for use in the treatment of vaginal atrophy induced by chemotherapy.
