REPORT ON THE STUDY AND RESEARCH ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2023/2024 BY THE DOCTORAL STUDENTS ENROLLED IN CYCLE 39 (1ST YEAR)
The study and research activities of the ABRO students enrolled in cycle 39 took place regularly.

The PhD students fully completed the forms showing their training activities, scientific production, national and international mobility and dissemination activities. As they are students in their first year of doctoral studies, the main activity was devoted to training in compliance with the ABRO PhD regulations.

- collaborations and interactions between doctoral students measured by publications in their joint names,
- research projects for which they are responsible (in particular, Start of Research)
- funding of joint and individual research projects for mobility abroad.
AWARDS
Edoardo CESARONI and Fabio CICCARELLI, together with Lorenzo CIARPAGLINI (PhD DN in AI 40th cycle) won the 1st prize of the Synthetic Data Hackathon organised by Aindo at DIAG in February 2024.
COLLABORATIONS AND INTERACTIONS BETWEEN PHD STUDENTS
Several publications under joint names between PhD students from the same ABRO programme are reported with regard to collaborations and interactions between PhD students.
PhD students Francesca PATARINI and Giulia SAVINA collaborated on a paper [1] and a conference abstract [2]. PATARINI with Andrea RANIERI (38th cycle) and Shiva MOHEBBAN (40th cycle) collaborated on the journal article [3] and the production of a conference abstract [4] and a poster [5]. PhD students Valentina CARACCI and Ilaria QUATTROCIOCCHI (38th cycle) collaborated on a conference abstract [6]. PhD students Edoardo CESARONI and Fabio CICCARELLI collaborated on a paper [7], currently submitted to a journal.

Several joint publications between PhD students from the same ABRO programme are reported with regard to collaborations and interactions between PhD students.
Andrea RANIERI co-authored with PATARINI (39th) and MOHEBBAN (40th) a journal publication [1]. RANIERI presented with PATARINI (39th) conference abstracts [2], [3], [4], [5], [6] and with MONGIARDINI (37th) a conference abstract indexed on Medline [7]. D'ORAZIO presented conference work [9] in collaboration with CIPRIANO and BELVEDERE (36th). GOVONI and MAIANI collaborated on a submitted journal publication [10]. QUATTROCIOCCHI co-published conference abstracts [11],[12],[13] with CARACCI (39th).
DISSEMINATION OF RESULTS
RANIERI and QUATTROCIOCCHI presented at the ‘46th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Conference (EMBC)’, (Orlando (FL), US July 2024) presenting respectively the papers ‘Spectral graph theory to investigate topological and dynamic properties of EEG based brain networks: an application to post-stroke patients’ [7], ‘Decomposition Frequency Optimization in wavelet-based template matching algorithms to manage P300 latency jitter’ [11].
GOVONI presented at the ‘IEEE 18th International Conference on Control & Automation (ICCA)’, (Reykjavík, Iceland, June 2024) ‘Decentralised Task Allocation for Redundant Multi-Robot Systems: An Iterative Consensus Approach’ [8].

Raffaele Mariosa: team victory in Track 3 of the ‘Challenges on Automated Math Reasoning’ (Track 3: Automated Optimisation Problem Solving With Code - use of LLM for automatic modelling of optimisation problems), organised as part of the International Conference on Machine Learning 2024 (ICML24).
Elena Mongiardini obtained the NextGen Scholar Award for her participation in the 46th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC) - poster titled: Characterization of Low Frequency Oscillations in Simple Hand Movements.

As far as collaborations and interactions between doctoral students are concerned, there are several publications under joint names between doctoral students from the same ABRO programme.
Collaboration between doctoral students Elena Mongiardini (37th) and Andrea Ranieri (38th) on publication [1]: Daniele Patria ja collaborated with M. Bernabei (PhD Industrial Engineering) on the work [2].
