Andrea Marcucci is a tenure-track researcher (RTT) in Classical Philology at the Department of Ancient Sciences of Sapienza University of Rome. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Classical Literature (2009) and a Master's degree in Philology, Literature, and History of the Ancient World (2013) at Sapienza University of Rome. He completed his PhD in Literary Texts and Historical Sources at the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio in 2017, with a dissertation on the hexameter fragments of ancient comedy, which was awarded the highest distinction (“excellent”). He held postdoctoral research fellowships at the Department of Ancient Sciences of Sapienza University of Rome (2019–2020; 2021–2022). His research focuses on Attic theatre, with particular attention to comic fragments, metrics, the reception of Greek tragedy, and dramaturgical and staging practices of ancient theatre. He has participated in national and international research projects, including studies on the transmission of Aeschylus’ manuscripts and the reinterpretation of Greek and Roman art. He is also actively involved in the Theatron – Ancient Theatre at Sapienza project, dedicated to the translation and performance of classical theatrical works. Since 2023, he has been teaching Classical Philology I for the Bachelor's program in Classics (LT) and Ancient Dramaturgy (AAF) for the Bachelor's program in Classical Literature at Sapienza University. He is a member of the Board of the Department of Ancient Sciences, the AQ Management Committee for the degree programs in Philology, Literatures, and History of the Ancient World (LM), Classical Literature (LT), and Classics (LT), as well as the Committee of the Theatron – Ancient Theatre at Sapienza project. He has published two monographs, articles in international journals, and contributions to edited volumes, focusing particularly on the translation and commentary of comic hexameter fragments, as well as on technical and performative aspects of Greco‑Roman theatre. Andrea is a member of several academic associations and scientific committees, including the Scientific Committee of the Centro Studi “Concetto Marchesi” and the Italian Association of Classical Culture (Rome delegation), and he regularly participates in national and international conferences and seminars.
