Thesis title: LA SCULTURA ITALIANA ALLE CORTI DI CARLOS II E FELIPE V DI SPAGNA (1665-1746): PRESENZA, FUNZIONE, IMPATTO E CIRCOLAZIONE

This doctoral dissertation analyses the presence and role of Italian sculpture at the courts of Charles II and Philip V of Spain between 1665 and 1746. The study considers the political and cultural context of the court, the role of artistic intermediaries, and the patronage strategies that facilitated the introduction of Italian sculptors and artworks into the principal spaces of Iberian power. Through the analysis of archival sources, inventories, correspondence, and artworks preserved in public and private collections, the research reconstructs artistic networks and the dynamics of cultural transfer between Italy and Spain. In doing so, the dissertation contributes to redefining the role of Italian sculpture within the artistic context of the Spanish court between the late seventeenth and the first half of the eighteenth century, highlighting its impact on the transformation of taste and artistic practices within the monarchy.
