In 1988 he obtained degree in Civil Construction Engineering at University of Rome "La Sapienza" with grade of 110/110 cum laude.
In 1990 he won a competition at the C.N.R. with the qualification of researcher and carried out activity at the Department of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering of the University of Rome "La Sapienza" on behalf of the National Group for Earthquake Defense.
In 1991 he won the competition for admission to the PhD in Structural Engineering at the University of Rome ''La Sapienza'' and in 1995 he obtained the relevant title.
In 1995 he was the winner of the competition for University Researcher positions at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of L'Aquila for the H07A (Construction Science) sector, taking up service on 02/05/1996 at the same Faculty.
In 1999 he was confirmed as University Researcher.
In 2000 he was found eligible for the comparative evaluation procedure for associate professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Genoa for the disciplinary scientific sector H07A (Construction Science).
In November 2001 he took up his post as associate professor at the Department of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering of the University of Rome "La Sapienza", Faculty of Engineering, and in 2004 he was confirmed as associate professor at the same Faculty.
In July 2006 he was found suitable in the comparative evaluation procedure for the recruitment of a position as full professor in the scientific-disciplinary sector ICAR/08 at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Rome "La Sapienza" (Latina Campus ) (D.R. n. 589 of 31/7/2006).
In March 2007 he was appointed as full professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Rome "La Sapienza" and in March 2010 he was confirmed full professor at the same Faculty.
