This book provides a compass for navigating the landscape of images: the iconosphere. Each chapter begins with an exemplary case study to address a specific problem and examine the method our cultural tradition has developed to solve it: semiotics, Gestalt psychology, formalism, iconology, energetics, phenomenology, ontology, psychoanalysis, theories of the figural, neuroaesthetics, analytical philosophy of depiction, visual culture studies, while also encompassing the horizons opened by new technologies such as virtual and augmented reality and artificial intelligence.
