Intensified Production of nanoparticles

aula 46 ore 10-12 giorno 6/12/19

nowadays the production of nanoparticles in the chemical industry plays an important role as the peculiar characteristics of nano-materials allow to achieve formidable process performance and chemical-physical characteristics of the materials in which they are used. The morphological, chemical and mechanical characteristics of the nanoparticles strongly depend on the production process and on the equipment used for their synthesis. To make the production of these materials economically sustainable, it is essential to move from a laboratory scale, which involves discontinuous production processes on an industrial scale with continuous processes. One of the main objectives of process intensification is to move from discontinuous production processes to continuous ones. The following topics will then be addressed in the lesson:
• application of Process Intensification fundamentals to the production of metallic nanoparticles and their oxides;
• practical examples on the optimization of a production process of nanoparticles of Fe and Cu oxides using Spinning Disk Reactor technology;
• evaluation of process performance through analytical technologies such as BET and DLS.
