Educational goals and objectives

ADVANCED SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIES
This PhD in "Advanced Surgical Technologies" aims at providing young
medical graduates with training in science and technology so that, by
learning the best established and innovative diagnostic and operating
technologies used in general surgery, the pathology of the digestive and
vascular system, the male urinary and genital tract, the organs of
hearing, phonation and the neck, they may engage in scientific and
technological research and publish scholarly articles regarding their
findings.
The PhD course is divided as follows :
Curriculum A: Advanced Surgical Technology;
Curriculum B: Pathology of the Organs of the Neck and Biocompatibility;
Curriculum C: Surgery.

Admission Procedure

Written examination The written exam consists of a research
project related to the topics of the
doctoral curriculum to partecipate:
A. Advanced Technologies in Surgery;
B: Neck and Biocompatibility pathology;
C: Surgery
The examining board will evaluate :
Originality and innovativity of the
research project
Clarity and precision of the elaborate
Compatibility, feasibility and impact of the
research project

Qualifications assessment Scientific publications (Max 20 points)
H-index (Scopus) = (max 10 points); for
each point of H-index a point is assigned,
up to a maximum of 10 points.
Scientific publications must be submitted
in PDF a maximum number of 5.

Oral interview Oral exam
Candidates who have passed the written
exam, will be admitted at oral exam.
During the oral examination, aspects of
the research project and the items of the
written exam together with presented
papers will be discussed. The oral exam
also includes the English language test,
which consists in translating a chosen passage of a scientific surgical text, from
Italian to English.
