He graduated in Mathematics (Calabria University) and obtained his PhD in Functional Analysis (SISSA Trieste) in 1992.
Post-doctoral fellowship of C.N.R. (National Council of Researchs) at the Laboratoire d'Analyse Numérique, Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris VI (two years 1991-1993).

- Calculus of Variations
Variational problems in the space BV of functions of bounded variation. Lower semicontinuity for integral (and supremal) functionals in BV. Relaxation and integral representation of relaxed functional in Sobolev spaces, in weighted Sobolev spaces and in BV. Lower semicontinuity for polyconvex integrals.
- Elliptic equations
Dirichlet forms and degenerate elliptic equations. Asymptotic problems for Dirichlet forms. Elliptic nonlinear equations on unbounded domains.
Dirichlet problems with 1-Laplacian principal part. Dirichlet problems for singular elliptic equations.
- Conservation laws
Applications of the chain rule formula in BV to the conservation laws.
Bounded divergence measure vector fields and conservation laws.
Several seminars and comunications in workshops and organization of Schools.
Participation to national research projects (PRIN) and coordination of national and local projects (GNAMPA, Sapienza).
