Thesis title: Waste to Chemicals: Technical-Economic Analysis of an HTL process

The work focused on the development in the Aspen Plus environment of a flowsheet of the thermal process of the organic fraction of municipal solid waste OFMSW into marketable biofuel through a process of hydrothermal liquefaction and subsequent upgrading. The purpose was to evaluate the feasibility of the system so as to be able to compare it with the already existing and widely used treatment processes of the OFMSW.

Research title: Simulation and advanced control of innovative waste-to-chemicals plants in the circular economy
The main object of the PhD will be the study of a gasifier which will have the task of converting refuse derived fuel into syngas.
The project aims to develop a dynamic model capable of describing a high temperature gasification process, analyzing and representing the various stages of the process, considering the reactor geometry and heat transfer processes, matter and the chemical reactions that take place inside the reactor.
